I realize I have not posted since starting my doctorate. I hope to start writing more often to expand this website. To begin, I've posted a number of blogs on American pieces written for the Rascher Saxophone Quartet. This research was part of a musicology course this fall.
The Rascher Saxophone Quartet was founded in the 1960s by Sigurd Rascher, a preeminent figure of the saxophone world. The quartet has premiered more than 300 works in their 40+ years of music-making. The quartet has commissioned a number of American composers, but most of these works have only received a few performances in the U.S.A. Each post includes the following information: a brief biography of the composer, stylistic elements, performance considerations, information such as the publisher, and any existing recordings or video performances.
